Veolia's RO and NF membrane elements originate from the SUEZ Water Technologies system; the series most often seen in engineering are the two 8-inch brackish water series AG and AK, together with the seawater series AD and SW. Projects designed against earlier SUEZ or GE datasheets may not match current model naming exactly, so replacement should follow the specific model.
For designers, one practical feature of Veolia's model system: the three main series AG, AK and AD correspond to fouling resistant brackish water, low-energy brackish water and seawater. Fixing the series first and then choosing a model by membrane area and pressure drop is far faster than comparing parameters one by one.
Series breakdown
| Series | Positioning | Common formats | Typical application |
|---|---|---|---|
| AG | Fouling resistant brackish water RO, including low-pressure versions | 8040, 4040 | Surface water, reuse water, brackish water prone to fouling |
| AK | Low pressure/ultra-low pressure brackish water RO | 8040, 4040 | Industrial pure water with low to medium salinity and energy sensitivity |
| AD/SW | Seawater desalination RO | 8040 | Single-pass seawater desalination, high-salinity wastewater |
| DK | Nanofiltration, softening and partial desalination | 8040, 4040 | Groundwater softening, colour removal, salt separation pretreatment |
| PRO/MUNI/BEV | General industrial, municipal water supply, beverage and food dedicated | 8040, 4040 | Standardised systems for the respective industries |

How to select
- High fouling resistance requirement: AG series, whose flow path and surface treatment target fouling conditions; where pretreatment is inadequate, SDI and residual chlorine must still be addressed first.
- Energy sensitive, good water quality: AK series, with test pressure clearly lower than AG, suited to low to medium salinity feed.
- Seawater or high-salinity water: AD/SW series, recovery 40%~45%; check per-element pressure drop and the temperature limit.
- Softening only, no desalination: DK nanofiltration, with high rejection of divalent ions and low rejection of monovalent ions, so it cannot be designed against RO rejection expectations.
For replacement, note that the AG/AK/seawater series are mostly 8040 format with the same housing and connections, but membrane area, coefficients and pressure drop characteristics differ; pressure, flux and concentrate saturation must be recalculated with the same water analysis and the same array. Datasheet values are all results under standard test conditions; actual conditions must be rechecked against the operating conditions.

FAQ
Where does Veolia's RO membrane product line come from?
It originates from the SUEZ Water Technologies system (formerly GE Water) and has continued under the Veolia brand since the 2022 merger; specific model attribution and supply status are subject to the manufacturer's current datasheet.
What is the difference between the AG and AK series?
AG is more fouling resistant, suited to surface water, reuse water and other conditions that foul easily; AK is low pressure and energy saving, suited to low to medium salinity feed. Test pressure and applicable water quality differ, so the array and pressure must be recalculated on replacement.
How many Veolia elements does this site list?
188, covering 4-inch and 8-inch formats and both brackish water and seawater categories; they can be filtered by brand on the design page and included in calculations.
